Get Started Kayaking



Called “King of the Kayak” in a recent feature article in the Bluffton Today, John Pagkos will share his kayaking experience and expertise at the Bluffton Branch of the Beaufort County Library on Sunday, April 22nd, at 2 p.m. in the large meeting room. This program, “Get Started Kayaking”, is open to anyone interested in learning more about this popular water sport. John Pagkos is an Olympian, having competed in flatwater sprint racing in the 1956 and 1960 Olympics. He is also Fleet Captain of the Callawassie Paddlers, a Callawassie community organization begun just 3 years ago and now boasting a membership of over 100 kayaking enthusiasts. John will share the fundamentals of kayaking, important safety measures, and what to know and how to handle oneself in the local waters of Beaufort County. This program provides an excellent opportunity for you to learn more about this popular Lowcountry sport with an accomplished kayak instructor.
